Harbour City Arcade at LV
type Retail
location Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
area 740 sq.m.
client Harbour City Estates Ltd.
design 2007

The arcade was commissioned by Harbour City, the largest shopping complex in Hong Kong, as a signature area to complement the opening of a new flagship store for Louis Vuitton. Restricted by the existing low ceiling heights and irregular plan shape, the design focuses around a series of irregular radiating lines, which generates dynamic patterns on the floor and ceiling while helping to connect and unify the arcade’s many fragmented public spaces.

The ceiling lines are made of black mirrors set into a channel with strip lighting behind, giving the effect that the lines are floating. The result is minimal in architectural terms but highly expressive, allowing the Louis Vuitton brand to be celebrated in a chic environment.
