Club Lucca is a 2,500m2 clubhouse as part of the Villa Lucca residential development by Hysan. The project is a collaboration between ARK and David Collins Studio of UK.

Situated on top of a hill overlooking the Tolo Harbor, the clubhouse design takes inspiration from traditional Italian architecture to create a modern Tuscan hilltop villa experience.  The plan is organized as a processional route where spaces are revealed as layers along the circulation. The spaces embrace natural lighting with moments that connect to outdoor gardens and sunken plazas to create indoor/outdoor connections.

Like a Tuscan Villa, the aim of Club Lucca was to create formality within nature. Inside the clubhouse, there are classical forms, linked by frivolous organic gestures The language of archways, cornices, and architraves provides continuity throughout the project, whilst different materials and details delineate between zones. There are moments that promote flow, movement, and calm that marries interior and exterior landscaping and finishes.

A framework of strong colors harmonizes the interior throughout and ensures that each space feels special and has its own unique character that matches and enhances the function. The monochromatic backgrounds are juxtaposed with block color palettes to distinguish the different areas and their uses.

A family of bespoke lighting are designed for this project, featuring Portoro stone and metal details with shades of pale onyx and natural alabaster. A series of custom furniture has also been created, using curves and organic shapes to mirror the natural landscape.

Overall the design also aims to convey a powerful sense of permanence. Materials are selected for their qualities, to age beautifully, and as a response to the architecture and the particular use of each space. Furniture pieces were designed with a consistent vocabulary throughout the project, to be true to their form, and to respect the integrity of the materiality they are composed of.
